Shree Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi is Mumbai’s most famous Ganesha temple, built in 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil. The original structure was a small 3.6 sq meter brick shrine funded by a childless woman so other women would not remain barren. The current six-story temple with a gold-plated dome was completed in 1994. The idol is unique — Ganesha’s trunk curves right, with Riddhi and Siddhi goddesses on either side.
